Question: Do you think that if the top three national grocery store chains woke up one day and decided to have more than one 10-foot cooler of organic produce in all their stores, life would get better for you and yours? Have a look…

 

While the availability of organically grown foods is growing–“Just a decade ago, the organic-food market was a $3.2 billion industry. Today it’s grown more than tenfold to $35 billion…”–it’s still not where we, and many of our fans, would like to see it.

 

Where do you get your organically grown food and how confident are you that it’s truly organic?

So you want the best duck in the world, okay? And it’s raised in Georgia! Easy-peasy, right?

 

Nope. Our duck that’s raised in Georgia gets transported to Alabama for processing. It’s frozen there, then it gets shipped to a major warehouse near Atlanta where it’s stored until it’s shipped to a caterer or restaurant or grocery store where you can buy it.

 

Don’t even ask about Chinese apples.

 

In the opposite direction, there’s the option of “local food systems“, which could include, but not limited to, your local farmers markets and consumer supported agriculture (CSA). Did you know that Affairs to Remember is a CSA pickup point?
