Teaching Kids to Garden

What’s the most precious resource on planet Earth? Our children, of course. And they’re the future stewards of sustainability, of protecting the Earth and eventually their own children.

We have great admiration for programs that teach our children how to garden, how to recycle, how to compost…how to care for their environment.

One of those that we think does this well is the Education Garden at Piedmont Park, a program of the Piedmont Park Conservancy.

Not only do they teach children how the food we eat grows and what the plants that produce it look like, they also teach organic gardening, vermiculture, about solar energy, how to reuse rain water, and—two of our favorites—composting and recycling.
