CASE STUDY: Historic Theatre Seeking Ballroom Partnership


Within the first 12 months of managing private events for a respected Atlanta institution, AFFAIRS to REMEMBER Facility Management increased ballroom sales to record numbers. Representing their various event spaces, including areas with a capacity of 30 guests to two large-scale ballrooms accommodating up to 1,100 guests, this record included some whole theatre buyouts.

This venue wanted to depart from in-house management of private events. They engaged in a search for a firm with the experience and expertise to undertake such a monumental task.

This historic theatre is an Atlanta icon, a household name for thousands of Atlantans over multiple generations, and a special events destination for visitors from around the world. Its ballrooms and other spaces have been the site of special events for nearly 80 years.

Located on Atlanta’s Peachtree Street in the Midtown neighborhood, the theatre is situated between Downtown Atlanta and Buckhead, as well as major Interstates, making it geographically desirable.

Its opulent exterior and interiors are mesmerizing and it offers multiple, scalable special event spaces, as well as the option for a full theatre buy-out: multiple ballrooms, other spaces and its main auditorium, which seats thousands—perfect for large audience presentations and other events.


As a non-profit historical theatre, budget and hours available to manage the private events department was not at desired levels, nor peak efficiency. The primary task at hand was to improve private events space rentals, increasing this revenue stream.

The venue had issued a request for proposal (RFP) in search for an organization to assume oversight and management of the theatre's sales and marketing of its private events. Few organizations in Atlanta could handle this monumental task.

Clients would oftentimes have to navigate the complex terrain of a multitude of contracts with a wide range of vendors, including coordination of their availability and schedules, as well as ingress and egress of each vendor on event day(s).
