Special Events Magazine, an international resource for event professionals, was called the "official and premiere magazine of the special events industry in North America," by the International Live Events Association (ILEA).
"With people like Saffold Smith—who brings a blend of talent, grace and that good old-fashioned work ethic to her career—the event industry is in the right hands," said Lisa Hurley, Director of Content, Special Events Magazine.
GOOD MANNERS COUNT
Rich Wilner, General Manager, Affairs to Remember Caterers, said, "Saffold is the personification of how to create a positive, rewarding client-vendor relationship. Her professionalism, excited enthusiasm for her client's having a truly special event, and her charming good manners mean that Saffold has quickly become one of our most sought-after consultants. Her talents are vast, her determination is inspiring and her goodwill is to be modeled. I'm proud of her for being recognized by Special Events Magazine."
HIRED ON THE SPOT
Patrick Cuccaro, Managing Director, Affairs to Remember Caterers, recognized her talent at the first meeting they had. "What impressed me were her impeccable customer service skills. I jumped at the chance to hire her."
Saffold joined Affairs to Remember Caterers in April 2014, bringing a considerable range of culinary and hospitality experience to the company's sales team. She attended culinary school and has relevant experience including positions as a sous chef, restaurant manager, hostess and bartender, and she enjoys family entertaining.
"Saffold is not one to toot her own horn; she's quite humble. But don’t take her humility as shyness. She's not. She gets in there with the client, listens, discusses and then goes to work to create a magical, memorable event. We consistently receive positive feedback from Saffold's clients, which is only one of the things that make us proud to have her on the Affairs to Remember team," continued Cuccaro, who recently joined the Special Events Magazine Advisory Board.
Attending the University of South Alabama located in Mobile, Saffold earned a degree in Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Southern History—the "eccentric South" being a lifelong interest.
LOVING THE WORK
Saffold won Affairs to Remember’s most prestigious award, 'Employee of the Year', earlier this year after only two years with the company, recognized for her personification of the company's Core Values and her dedication to making clients happy.
"I was so honored to even be considered for Special Events Magazine's '25 Young Special Events Pros to Watch' list. When I learned that I had been selected, I did a happy dance!" said Saffold.
Saffold continued, "I love working with brides. In fact, I just recently completed a wedding that the first call that came in right after I got back from my own wedding. It made that particular event extra special to me—I love that brides trust me with such a special occasion—and I think I was as happy as the couple was about the success of their wedding reception. I love what I do; I love making special events."
