Affairs to Remember Caterers, Atlanta’s first Zero Waste Zones caterer, today announced that it is honored to be recognized by Atlanta’s event-goers as one of the city’s leading luxury caterers for 35 years, and it looks forward to the next 35 with great anticipation.
Affairs to Remember Caterers, one of the largest privately held off-premise luxury caterers in the United States, was started in a modest kitchen in September 1977 by Ron Lazarus and Scott Ardolino who catered their first event on the 17th day of that month.
Scott and Ron, who continue to be actively involved in the day-to-day activities of Affairs to Remember, took Atlanta by storm catering bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs and weddings…and that was only the beginning.
Today, the multi-million dollar organization caters approximately 1,100 parties a year that range from mitzvahs and birthday parties to weddings and corporate events to galas and fundraisers.
In 2008, in their ever-forward-thinking philosophy, Affairs to Remember went “Green,” immediately eliminating all polystyrene products such as Styrofoam. Today, the company’s Legacy Green program encompasses recycling, composting, training, sourcing from local and organic farms, and considerably more. The company’s “Green” branding actually garners more business as sustainability initiatives around the world evolve.
Addressing the marked increase in food allergies in recent years, Affairs’ chefs have developed a number of Top 8 Allergen-free menu items, ranging from entrees to chocolate cake, giving food allergy-sensitive clients and their guests the equivalent of a fine dining option when at a catered party.
Ron and Scott’s character is not only defined by their commitment to providing the best tasting, freshest food and unparalleled service, but also in their dedication to employees. During the Great Recession, as with all past economic downturns, they committed to ‘not’ conduct layoffs…a promise they have always kept.
And their goodwill extends to the Greater Atlanta community by way of support of employee-driven team sport fundraising events via its Team ATR program; contributions to P.A.W.S., a no-kill animal shelter; and through its Legacy Giving program, which offers significant sponsorships for catering and event design services to non-profit organizations. Affairs to Remember has provided approximately $1.75 million in in-kind services since the inception of Legacy Giving a few years ago.
With Affairs to Remember for more than 20 years and at the helm as General Manager for more than a decade, Patrick Cuccaro has seen and led quite a lot of change. Cuccaro said, “If I had to succinctly describe the founders/owners of Affairs to Remember Caterers, I would call them ‘Renaissance Caterers’. Ron and Scott became industry experts through successfully managing and attending to the business, starting at zero and growing and grooming it exponentially, all the while paying close attention to matters of people. They continually focus and refocus on the importance of employee engagement and positive morale, and how that transfers to a positive, memorable employee-client interaction.”
Cuccaro continued, “We’ve learned a lot in 35 years and I find the prospects of the next 35 years quite exciting. We’re expanding our ‘Green’ initiatives and helping others start and grow their own; we’re making ground-breaking strides in menu design; and we’re ramping up our internal training to meet the needs, wants and trends of the next generation of event-creators.”
Also to mark their 35th anniversary, Affairs to Remember Caterers made a charitable contribution to local non-profits Hands On Atlanta and the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
